Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) Practice Test

In an SSO project, you must record a Current Living Situation program assessment in addition to the standard HMIS data elements. This assessment documents exactly where the client is living at intake and as things change, which is essential for planning and delivering supportive services. It helps case managers tailor services, monitor housing stability needs, and determine appropriate referrals or benefits to support the client’s situation.

The other data points aren’t required as the extra element for SSO in the HMIS standards: Move-In Date is more relevant to housing placements or housing inventory contexts, Number of occupants isn’t a mandated additional element, and National ID isn’t collected as a standard HMIS element due to privacy considerations.
